Drop the Headphone Jack?

Motorola and Apple removed the Headphone-Jack (3.5 mm) from their smartphones. Here are my thoughts on this inconvenient development.

I think, that adapters suck and not being able to charge and listen to music at the same time is neither clever nor "courageous" at all. Also, I want to use the same wired headphones with my Phone and Laptop for example.

So what are the positive aspects of this revolution? Why do I have to overthink all my Audio, just so the phone has a little more space?

Let me give you an example from Laptops. The Ethernet cable is faster than Wifi and safer. Still many Laptops got rid of it to get thinner, but noone complained. So will we get over it and soon laugh about the "ancient" headphone jack? Maybe.

Bluetooth got very reliable and the sound quality difference compared to wired headphones is also shrinking.

There are even new solutions, making your Soundsystem or any 3.5 mm cable Bluetooth ready (~20€).

Another positive aspect: The new Lightning-/USB-C Headphones get energy, making them much more potent and able to use external DAC

Conclusion:

This new "Revolution" will make things very inconvenient. But in my opinion, it's a very logical step to the future. Lightning and USB-C can transfer Audio, like the 3.5 mm can, so why have two different ports for one thing? I start to like the idea. Unfortunately, we are the ones who have to make all these uncomfortable changes now.

BUT, why does Apple have to hold on to their Lightning Cables? Can't they just use USB-C? They even use it on their MacBooks, so why will I not be able to use the same brandnew wired headphones for both Apple devices? This is "weird".

DAC, is the location, where the digital audio signal gets convertet into analog. This can happen in the phone or outside, like inside the headhones. The Headphone Jack used the DAC in the phone, which could be really crappy, when you had a bad one.

Bluetooth, got very secure. The radiation is much lower than the one of your smartphone (reception). (Up to 30x lower)

Metric System, I think that especially the USA should stop calculating with their feet and lobsters. This change would be much more inconvenient, but also much more logical. Everybody learns their language and has to deal with their international interventions, so I am just saying... ♥☺♥
